How good is plug-in solar in the winter?

Output drops significantly during UK winters due to shorter daylight hours, lower sun angles, and heavier cloud cover. An 800W kit typically generates only 10%–20% of its peak summer daily yield between November and February. Oversizing your DC panel capacity (up to the maximum 2,000W limit) helps capture as much diffuse daylight as possible during darker months.
